EAST LANSING, Mich. -- The Michigan State University (MSU) Extension Beef Team will host bull breeding soundness clinics throughout the state to help producers ensure that their bulls are healthy and can breed as necessary.

In the 10 similar clinics that MSU Extension (MSUE) hosted last year, 39 of 164 bulls were identified as having potential breeding problems. By identifying those problems, producers can reduce the risk of a less-than-optimum breeding season, thereby saving themselves time and money.

The MSUE Beef Team encourages producers to have their bulls checked either by a veterinarian or at one of the clinics every year to help ensure a good breeding season.

The 2008 clinics are scheduled for:

The Andy and Lynn Salinas Farm in Marion on March 14. Contact Andy Salinas at 231-743-6775.

The Garry Voogt Farm, Marne, March 15. Contact Kevin Gould at 616-527-5357.

The MSU College of Veterinary Medicine, East Lansing, March 22 or by appointment. Contact Dan Grooms at 517-432-1494.
